The Sweet East 18
The Sweet East is a darkly funny journey down the rabbit hole via the cities and woodlands of the Eastern seaboard of the United States undertaken by Lillian (Talia Ryder, Never Rarely Sometimes Always), a high school senior from South Carolina.
Separated from her schoolmates on a class trip, she embarks on a fractured fairy-tale travelogue into modern America, where she is granted access to a variety of the strange factions, cults, and conspiracy theorists that proliferate the present-day “unreality” of contemporary life.
Featuring supporting performances from up-and-coming stars such as Ayo Edebiri (Bottoms, The Bear) Jacob Elordi (Saltburn, Priscilla), and Earl Cave (Days of the Bagnold Summer), plus cult star Simon Rex (Red Rocket), the surreal ensemble road movie is brought together by debut director Sean Price Williams, known for his work as a cinematographer on the Safdie Brothers Good Time.
